Green leaving Chandler soccer for college job

By Kyle Odegard, Tribune

Chandler boys soccer coach Jason Green is quitting to become an assistant for the women’s soccer team at the University of Wyoming.

Green has coached the Wolves for five years, leading them to a state tournament appearance this year, where they were bounced in the first round by Phoenix Brophy. He has been with the program since 1998. He is a safety and physical education teacher at the school and will stay on until July 1.

Green will also give up his post as the assistant director of coaching at The Gilbert Soccer Club on July 1.

Dissapointed

Green only took club players, Never gave other kids a chance to even try to make the team. I am glad he is leaving. Maybe the new coach will give all the kids a chance. Suggest removal of this comment

11 of the 23 varsity players from our team did not play club soccer. Every other east valley team has all club players on varsity and JV. Suggest removal of this comment

So 12 players were Club players...Coach Green was telling the kids before the tryouts if they didn't play club ball not to try out because they didn't have a chance. Nice Coach we have at Chandler. Maybe we would have done better in the playoffs if we didn't have all club players. Club players tend to show off and be ball hogs. Suggest removal of this comment

Coach Green did an awesome job at Chandler High. For not having very many club players, you took the team to the playoffs and it was noticed by many. Good Luck to you in Wyoming and I'm sure this is not the last we will hear of you. You will be missed. Suggest removal of this comment

I am sure Green did'nt tell kids not to try out if they did'nt play club, then take a bunch of players that dont play club, that makes no sense. Haters!!!!! Suggest removal of this comment

I have coached against Jason for a lot o years, both in the Fiesta Region and in the JC's when he assisted Danny Sanchez at MCC. He is a class act and a terrific teacher of the game. I agree...CHS's loss is Wyoming's gain. Good luck Jason! Suggest removal of this comment
