Hickle's 27 wins; Whitney gets ace

Gilbert High School's Cheyenne Hickle shot an impressive 27 at Greenfield Lakes Golf Course in Scottsdale to finish as the medalist in a three-way girls golf competition between the Tigers, Gilbert Mesquite and Gilbert Highland on Monday.
Hickle's score was four strokes better than Melissa Hulstrand of Mesquite and Highland's Alexa Schendelman, who tied for second at 31.
However, the shot of the day didn't come from any of the top finishers, but from the Hawks' Baily Whitney, who had a hole-in-one. She finished with a 46.
GIRLS GOLF
In a closely fought match, host Desert Ridge defeated Mountain Pointe, 174-179.Mountain View finished a distant third with a 200.
Kelsey Chugg of Mountain Pointe was the medalist with a 40, but it wasn't enough as the Jaguars had three top five finishers to the Pride's two.
Christen Sellers was the runner-up and top scorer for the Jaguars with a 42. ...
Desert Mountain had four of the top five finishers in avictory over host Phoenix Central and Basha.
The Wolves posted a score of 175 to the Bears' 183 and the Bobcats' 263.
Basha's Brittany Brickley shot the top score of 39, but the next four finishers were all from Desert Mountain. Ashlin McCahan's 41 led the way for the Wolves.
BOYS GOLF
Keenan Sceele and Travis Steinheiser led visiting Saguaro as both tied for first with 40s and the Sabercats held off Williams Field, 177-178.
Coronado also participated, finishing at 214.
Trey Brown fired a 41 to lead Williams Field.
