Scottsdale Notre Dame, a 4A-II school, defeated 5A-I schools Chandler Hamilton, Mesa Red Mountain and Mesa Mountain View in a boys golf match on Tuesday.

Notre Dame finished with a score of 187 to 193 for Red Mountain, 206 for Hamilton and 228 for Mountain View at Red Mountain Ranch Country Club in Mesa.

Brian Blanchard of the Saints was the medalist with a 34, one shot better than the Mountain Lions’ Al Argos and the Huskies’ Shane Yoon.

BOYS GOLF

Caleb Cox and Nick Johnson shot 36 and Collin Clark carded a 37 to lead Gilbert (192) to victory in a four-team match with Gilbert Highland (212), Chandler (215) and Gilbert Mesquite (235) at Kokopelli Golf Club.

Highland’s Noah Cook shot a 35 to take medalist honors.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Visiting Mingus Union used its powerful offense to pull off a 25-16, 21-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-8 victory over Cactus Shadows.

Summer Anderson had a solid game for Cactus Shadows, recording 10 kills and 19 digs.

Teammate Whitney Wilde finished with 14 kills and five blocks.

Scottsdale Notre Dame cruised to a 25-10, 25-6, 25-10 win over Verrado behind several strong individual performances.

Cassie Uribe had 12 kills, eight aces and five digs for the Saints. Jessica Maxwell added 11 kills and five aces. Haley Madden finished with seven kills, three aces and four digs.

BADMINTON

Scottsdale Desert Mountain didn’t drop a single game en route to a 9-0 win over Laveen Cesar Chavez.

No Wolves singles player or doubles team allowed more than six points in any game.
