Mesa Dobson used a dominant rushing attack Friday night as the Mustangs beat host Phoenix Alhambra 56-10 in a 5A-I nonregion game.

SLIDESHOW: Friday Night High School Football Slideshow

The Mustangs were led by junior tailback Terrance Martin, who carried the ball five times for 120 yards and four touchdowns, all in the first half. Both of Dobson’s pass completions in the game went for touchdowns. Logan Sachs and Fred Huff both ran for first-half touchdowns. The Mustangs’ offense moved the ball at will in the first half, scoring on every possession.

Dobson’s defense looked sharp, and the lone touchdown it allowed was set up by two personal fouls before Charles Burnham hit Joe Antone on a 16-yard touchdown pass.

Dobson’s quarterback, Jordan Gruber, only played the first half but completed two touchdown passes, the first a 77-yard fade to Emilio Gutierrez and the second an 11-yard out to tight end Tyler French.

Alhambra was led by senior running back Garrett Turner, who ran for 139 yards on only 15 carries. Quarterback Charles Burnham ran for 16 yards on seven carries and passed for 148 yards.
