Chandler Valley Christian ran right on past visiting Phoenix Northwest Christian 60-21 on Friday on its way to the 2A semifinals.
SLIDESHOW: Friday night football action
Before the game, Valley Christian coach Bill Morgan wanted 400 rushing yards out of his team. By the time the clock ran out, the Trojans (9-2) had rushed for 461 yards on 46 attempts against the Crusaders (10-2).
“I’m very proud of my offensive line,” Morgan said. “They did a tremendous job opening up holes, giving running backs lanes to run through.”
The Trojans unleashed an 11-horse stable of rushers, five of whom scored.
Stephen Sasso, who scored two touchdowns on three rushing attempts, was one of the most productive. He found quarterback Jordan Morgan on a reverse pass for a 55-yard touchdown. Jimmy Oum also found the end zone twice on 20- and 24-yard touchdown runs.
After lighting up the scoreboard first for the Trojans, Brock Longanecker was a yard-generating machine. He averaged over 14 yards per carry on seven attempts.
The Trojans’ Blake Argo picked up 129 yards on 12 carries.
